Client Services
We build a plan that is specifically tailored to your student’s personality, talents learning needs and personal goals. It starts with an intake meeting with parents and child and continues with student and parent consultations from ninth grade through graduation. Based on face-to-face meetings, written evaluations, and other intakes, Julie formulates a detailed written plan that will help chart your student’s course.
Our Process
Many variables factor into finding a student’s best college match once 12th grade rolls around. That’s why it is ideal to start early. The high school journey is long, but it should be a time of discovery, and it goes all too fast! Proper planning goes a long way toward alleviating the stresses of teen life and college prep.
These are things I do, right from the start, to keep the student on track. I’ll manage the essentials so the teen can manage school and continue to explore the interests that make him or her unique.
Lakeside guides you to:
- • Choose the right high school curriculum.
- • Strategize the student profile (extracurricular activities, etc.).
- • Find the right test prep and set realistic guidelines for testing.
- • Build a college list.
- • Provide special insights from frequent campus visits and interviews with admissions staff.
- • Recommend gap year programs (if appropriate).
- • Keep track of deadlines.
- • Assess scholarship opportunities and financial aid.
- • Plan and evaluate college visits.
- • Develop a balanced list of college choices.
- • Tackle the essay(s).
- • Complete the application.
- • Help students through the final decision.
Julie gets to know your student well, and together they build a college list that will culminate in college visits or look at alternate plans for a gap year or other course of study. To prepare, we’ll take a look at your high school’s curriculum, the student’s grades and interests, strengths and passions, and forge a road map that will maximize his or her potential.
